Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Big Picture Thinking Audition ("the app") handles your information. The app is provided by Big Picture Thinking Ltd ("we", "us", "our").

The short version

The app records and edits your self-tapes and photos on your own device. We do not run any servers, we have no user accounts, and we do not collect, track, sell or share your personal information. Your recordings, photos and the details you type stay on your device unless you choose to save or share them yourself. The only outside parties involved are Apple, for two specific features described below.

1. What the app uses, and why

Camera and microphone

The app uses your camera and microphone to record your self-tapes and to preview the vintage camera looks. Recording happens on your device. Audio is captured cleanly and is not processed with effects.

Your Photos library

With your permission, the app saves finished tapes and photos to your Photos library, and lets you import a backing track or video and remove a photo you took. The app works with the items you choose; it does not read or upload your library.

Auto-cue teleprompter (speech recognition)

If you use the lyrics teleprompter, the app uses Apple's speech recognition to follow your words and advance the cue. On devices that support on-device speech recognition, this is done entirely on your device and the audio is not sent anywhere. On older devices that do not support on-device recognition, the audio for this feature may instead be processed by Apple's speech recognition service under Apple's own privacy policy. Either way this happens only while the teleprompter cue is in use, and you can avoid it by not using the auto-cue feature.

The details you enter

When you add your name, age and role for a slate, those details are stored on your device and shown in the tape you create. We do not receive them.

2. Your content and details stay on your device

Recording and editing happen on your device. The app does not provide cloud backup or sync, and it does not send your recordings, photos or the details you type to us or to anyone else. Please back up anything important yourself, for example by saving finished tapes to your Photos library, because content kept only in the app can be lost if you delete it, or delete or reinstall the app.

3. We do not collect, track or share

We do not collect analytics, we do not use advertising or tracking, and we do not build a profile of you. There is no login and no account. We do not sell or share your personal information.

4. Purchases

Audition Pro is sold as a subscription through Apple's App Store, and Family Sharing lets you share it with your Apple Family group. Purchases are handled by Apple. We do not see or store your payment details. Apple's handling of purchase information is covered by Apple's own privacy policy.

5. Children's privacy

The app is suitable for ages 4 and up and may be used by performers under 18. It does not collect personal information from anyone. Any details entered for a slate stay on the device. If you are a parent or guardian and have a question about your child's use of the app, please contact us.

6. Your choices and control

You control the app's access to your camera, microphone, Photos and speech recognition in the iOS Settings app, and you can change these permissions at any time. You can delete your recordings and photos from within the app and from your Photos library. Because your content is stored on your device, deleting it there removes it.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and they take effect once posted, so please review this page from time to time.
